Ages 4 to 7 years
Children who are preparing for enrollment interviews or need help with their confidence and speaking skills. Children must have basic English but may need help with natural pronunciation or practice. This class is open to native English speaking students, Japanese speakers, non-native English speakers and multilingual children.
We begin with exercises designed to place the children in situations that they feel familiar and unfamiliar, and ease them slowly into a position where they feel confident enough to show their true skills and personality. After a while, even when faced with entirely new challenges and circumstances our children learn to SPEAK OUT LOUD! Even the shyest child can turn into a well heard member of the group after these lessons!
Through role-play situations, question and answer sessions and other games we encourage the children to feel at ease talking openly and to the group. Through drama, self-exploration and discovery we draw out answers, questions and comments from the children. The children practice role-plays, eye contact, positive body language, poise, clear speech and composure. Within a month or so the children answer questions freely, react more calmly under pressure, listen to and understand commands and generally interact with adults and their surroundings far better. We use vocal exercises and voice training to get them to project.
We also work on manners, positive group interaction and independent work activities.
