Course Description
Little Veggie Cooks is a 5-week cooking class designed especially for preschoolers to build confidence in the kitchen while learning to love their veggies.
Each session is full of hands-on activities, sensory exploration, and kid-safe cooking tasks, all with a fun and relaxed vibe that encourages curiosity, tasting, and trying new things.
What Your Child Will Learn?
- How to safely handle, wash, and prepare vegetables
- Basic kitchen skills like stirring, spreading, measuring, scooping, and assembling
- The importance of hygiene and food safety
- How to engage all five senses through food play
- Confidence and independence in the kitchen
- A love for colourful, healthy food!
Programme Overview – 5 Weeks of Fun!
Week 1: Green Veggie Wraps
Veggies Focused: Bell peppers, carrots, spinach, Shredded purple cabbage, Cherry tomatoes (halved), avocado
Skills Learned: Washing veggies, chopping (with assistance), spreading, rolling
Activity: Kids will build their own veggie wraps using soft tortillas, fun spreads like hummus or cream cheese, and a rainbow of green and colorful veggies.
Fun Add-on: Rainbow veggie matching game to learn veggie names and colours!
Week 2: Garden Smoothies
Veggies Focused: Spinach, cucumber (blended with fruits)
Skills Learned: Measuring, pouring, supervised blending
Activity: We’ll make delicious green smoothies with banana, yogurt, and spinach or cucumber, and do a taste test to compare fruity vs. veggie blends.
Fun Add-on: Students name their own smoothies "Dino Fuel," "Super Green Juice," or whatever their imagination creates!
Week 3: Build-Your-Own Veggie Tacos
Veggies Focused: Corn, beans, avocado, lettuce, tomatoes
Skills Learned: Scooping, tearing, assembling
Activity: Children will fill soft tortillas with colourful, healthy taco fillings and learn how to layer textures and flavors.
Fun Add-on: Veggie guessing game, what’s hiding in my taco?
Week 4: Green Veggie Pasta Party
Veggies Focused: Spinach, zucchini, peas, broccoli
Skills Learned: Stirring, scooping, tearing (herbs and spinach), mixing sauces
Activity: Kids will mix pre-cooked pasta with a green veggie sauce (blended spinach pesto or creamy pea sauce) and add their favorite veggie toppings.
Fun Add-on: "Green Food Detective" — can you spot and name each green veggie?
Storytime: Eat Your Greens, Goldilocks
Week 5: Veggie Mash & Shape Day
Veggies Focused: Potatoes, sweet potatoes, cauliflower, carrots, peas
Skills Learned: Mashing, mixing, shaping, light seasoning
Activity: We’ll mash up soft, pre-cooked veggies and create fun shapes using cookie cutters or hands, stars, hearts, animals, and more!
Fun Add-on: “Name Your Veggie Creature” decorate mashed shapes with raisin eyes or olive smiles
Storytime: Monsters Don’t Eat Broccoli
