Our Ball Sports course offers all the fun that our ‘Ball Skills’ class does, with a wider variety of wonderful activities and challenging games, for older children. Ball skills are a great way to encourage physical exercise and cognitive skills and to develop a love of sports and team and individual performance. This class encourages:
- Improved balance
- Hand eye co-ordination
- Physical well-being
- Appreciation for a wide range of games they can play outside school
- Sense of belonging to a team
- Sense of enjoyment at achieved benchmarks and goals
Social SkillsPlaying ball sports encourages positive social skills and helps your child to recognise the importance of working as a team, respecting others and what it means to be lightly competitive. Ball sports are about participation and this in turn helps shy children to step out of themselves and participate.
ContentBasic ball skills such as dribbling, throwing, aiming and bouncing will all be covered extensively during this class. Our teachers employ a variety of equipment; Rugby, tennis, and footballs, rackets, hockey sticks and balloons, aimed to get the best results.
Each class will look at a different fundamental skill area
- Rolling a ball
- Hitting a Ball
- Stopping a ball
Starting with a warm up routine we will move on to introduce our fundamental skill. The children first work with a teacher and then in pairs and groups as they run through drills designed to help our children master the given task.
