Before School Phonics (BSP)
Ages 3 to 8 (Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays)
Dates: July 15th to August 30th
Time: 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Jump-start learning whilst the brain is fresh and ready for action!
Using the UK Read Write Inc Phonics system, we offer students a great way to keep up their journey to literacy over the summer, exposing children to the English phonics sounds taught through a tried and trusted method.
Fee
¥3,000 per class (or 1 Aspace ticket)
Who Can Join?
Summer School enrolled children only
Children can be already on their reading (alphabet) and writing journey, or absolute beginners
The group will divided by ability, not age
Content
Children arrive at 8:00 a.m.
Each session begins with a welcome and warm-up for 10 minutes.
From 8:10 a.m. to 8:50 a.m. the teacher focusses on:
Introducing a new sound
Writing/penmanship
Reviewing and assessing prior knowledge
Pronunciation
Identifying words with the sound
Spelling
Sight Words
Between 8:50 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., we enjoy getting the children into their regular summer classes.
Content is not designed to build day-by-day as Summer School is a casual attendance period. However, students will benefit from regular attendance and learning phonics in a general sequence, with plenty of repetition.

Before School English (BSE)
Ages 3 to 8

Before School English (BSE) is designed to start the day with some simple
and foundational language, that can really help your child 'break the ice' with us and feel more comfortable in an English language setting.
BSE focuses on daily life and classroom communication: greetings, introductions, manners, names of items around the school.

¥3,000 per class (or 1 Aspace ticket)
Who Can Join?
BSE is for beginners who are new to being in a fully English school environment
The group will divided by ability, not age
Content

Greetings & introductions
Requests ("May I go to the toilet?", "Can I leave the table?", "Please, may I have...?" etc.)
Classroom manners & etiquette
Names of items around the school
Months of the year, days of the week
Colours & shapes
Key theme words in preparation for the day
Between 8:50 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. we enjoy getting the children into their regular summer classes.
