Summer After-School

After School Selection, July 17th to August 16th
3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
*During the summer period:
- • Saturdays have an 'after school' class from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. included in the 'regular' Summer School fee, which runs from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- • Saturday enrolled parents using their usual Saturday School tickets (in blocks or singles) finish their Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. (or 1:45 p.m.) as usual, and their after school classes will be billed from 2:00 p.m. onwards.
- • After school classes from August 17th onwards are released in June.
- • Our After-School classes blend recreation and academic enrichment in a fun atmosphere. Children can pursue additional interests and extend their school day. Please note that you can also add creche hours from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (in 1hr units) if you need to collect your child at a later time @¥2,000 per hour.

Summer Private Music Tutors
Meet our fabulous music team member, Spencer Johnson. Beginning in the Summer session, you can sign up for lessons in flute, clarinet, saxophone, piano, drums and brass instruments with Spencer!
Multi-instrumentalist Spencer Johnson is a recent graduate of University of Nebraska (USA) where he earned a degree in music education. Spencer performs and teaches piano, woodwinds and brass, including saxophone, flute, clarinet, trombone, trumpet, tuba and euphonium. He has taught music lessons for over 10 years to children ages 4 through adults.
In his final year at university, Spencer held the leading role as drum major of the school’s marching band, performing at bowl games in San Francisco Levi’s Stadium and in San Diego. He sang the National Anthem for the Chicago Bulls (basketball) at the United Center, and has performed in Carnegie Hall (New York) and Chicago Symphony Center. He was the winner of the 2014 North Winds Solo Competition, and the University of Nebraska Concerto competition. He has given master classes for NASA (North America Sax Alliance, on planet Earth) and at the Northwest Wind Ensemble Conference.
Spencer enjoys playing soccer and basketball, and loves camping and being in the great outdoors. As he adjusts to his new home in Japan, he’s especially excited for all the Japanese foods! Regarding his calling as a teacher, he speaks of his love for the “Ah ha!” moments, when the lightbulb goes on for kids and they realize they’ve achieved something they never thought possible, raising the bar for their own expectations and confidence.
Spencer is the perfect combination of pragmatic and relaxed. Children love his gentle confidence and leadership.
Next, if you haven't yet met (or heard of him from the many adoring childen), allow us to introduce our favorite bubbly, warm and multi-talented Maestro Nico!! Nico is available for individual lessons in guitar, voice, piano and recorder.
Nick is extremely warm and friendly with a genuinely natural ability to make all students feel capable and at ease. He has a degree in Music, with a specialty in Jazz/Blues/Swing Guitar and Harmony from the Jazz Academy Fiesole, Italy. Nick has always been musically inclined. He started to play the piano and studying music at the early age of six, and still has many great memories of learning as a child. At just 8 years old he performed with his school’s orchestra as a pianist in Copenhagen, Denmark. He began to have an interest in modern music and guitar at the age of 16 when he started playing live music in a 50s rock n roll band, which expanded to a love of Beatles. Over the past 10 years, he has traveled Europe, performing at over 1,000 concerts in total, teaching everywhere that he settled.
Nick plays many instruments - bass, double bass, trumpet, ukulele, drums, piano, and guitar. His passion is Jazz music, and his degree is in Electric Guitar. He taught many students who now are professional musician.
